Sample shipping

Pack the vial so it arrives intact.

You do not need specialized laboratory packaging for a routine sealed, dry research vial. A little cushioning and a clear label go a long way.

Before you mail it

  1. Arrange the submission first. Wait for acceptance, your sample ID, and the confirmed shipping destination. Do not send an unannounced package.
  2. Label each vial. Include its sample ID and a simple identifier such as the cap color or lot number. Keep multiple vials separate.
  3. Protect the glass. Make sure the cap is secure. Put the vial in a small sealed bag and wrap it with paper towel, packing paper, or bubble wrap. Cushion it so it cannot rattle against another vial.
  4. Choose a package. A padded mailer can work for a vial inside a small rigid protective container. A small box is better for several vials or fragile glass. A free USPS Priority Mail box is fine when you are using Priority Mail; fill empty space with crumpled paper or clean paper towels so nothing moves.
  5. Include the submission sheet. Use the assigned IDs, retain your tracking number, and send us the carrier and tracking details.

Please do not reconstitute a dry sample unless ZAVCO specifically asks you to. If your sample is liquid, temperature-sensitive, damaged, or otherwise unusual, contact us before packing it.
